Rowe Fitness Training-Block 1

Course Description

Fitness Training is designed to teach basic lifestyle fitness concepts and aerobic/anaerobic fitness activities which use continuous movement or exercise. Moreover, this class will allow students to improve personal fitness levels on a daily basis. This course meets 5 of the 15 credits required for graduation, and is highly recommended for students in 11th and 12th grade. Please note that you will workout daily in this course, and experiment with a variety of fitness opportunities. As a result, this course should not be taken with other PE courses, unless approved by the teacher. At the end of this course, you will: * Have gained knowledge of fitness concepts and aerobic/anaerobic fitness activities that are trending and beneficial for personal health and fitness (PE.HS.4.1). *Have an understanding of a variety of activities that can be pursued in the local environment and if interested continued for future personal use, allowing you to reach the recommended sixty minutes of physical activity that we should meet daily (PE.HS.4.2). * Be able to demonstrate correct technique and use proper terminology while applying and utilizing movement concepts and principles associated with a variety of activities and training opportunities (PE.HS.4.2). * Be able to identify and utilize technology tools and social media resources that are healthful in terms of personal health and fitness (PE.HS.4.3). * Identify what it takes to perform at an appropriate level of challenge to experience success and desire to participate and continue to participate in self-selected physical activities, while exhibiting etiquette, appropriate behavior, and respect for others (PE.HS.4.3). * Develop and maintain a portfolio including personal goals and activity plans to improve and maintain personal fitness levels (PE.HS.4.3).
