The Kearney High School cheerleaders, led by Head Coach Ashley Bush and Assistant Coach Tammy Rehtus, bring spirit and energy to Bearcat athletics during their season running from June through early March. Tryouts for the team take place in late April. The 2024-2025 cheerleaders had an outstanding competition season, earning 2nd place at Heartland, 1st at Lexington, and finishing as runner-up in the state’s Class A competition with a traditional routine. In addition to supporting football, basketball, and wrestling teams at their home and district games, KHS cheer competes in their own division, showcasing their skills in stunting, tumbling, and pom. Each fall, the program hosts its largest fundraiser, the Little Bearcat Cheer Camp, welcoming elementary students from across Kearney to learn and perform alongside the team.
