Nominate an Athlete, Coach, Team, or Service

The Kearney High School Hall of Fame has been established to honor our proud tradition of excellence and to recognize individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond in shaping that legacy. Inductees reflect the values, achievements, and commitment that define Kearney High School.

Nominations may be submitted in one of the following categories. Please review the descriptions and criteria carefully before completing the nomination form. Once nominated, an individual or team will remain in the consideration pool for a period of five years.

ATHLETES
For athlete nominees to the Athletic Hall of Fame, individuals must meet specific selection criteria designed to honor excellence, character, and lasting impact. A minimum waiting period of 10 years following high school graduation is required, though special circumstances, such as serious illness, may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Nominees must demonstrate good moral character both during and after their high school years. Primary consideration is given to athletic accomplishments achieved at Kearney High School, with achievements beyond KHS reviewed as supplemental but not the primary basis for selection. All-State recognition by the Omaha World-Herald or Lincoln Journal Star is a significant factor, defined as first- or second-team selection in team sports or a first- or second-place finish in individual event sports such as track or tennis. Athletes who competed and excelled in multiple sports receive high priority, reinforcing the value of well-rounded, multi-sport participation.

COACH
For Coach/Sponsor nominees to the Athletic Hall of Fame, selection is based on a combination of longevity, achievement, and impact on the Kearney High School athletic program. Nominees must have a minimum of 10 years of coaching experience, though not all years are required to have been served at Kearney High School. A two-year waiting period is required following the conclusion of their coaching career, and at the time of selection, nominees may not be actively coaching at Kearney High School. Primary consideration is given to accomplishments achieved at KHS, with coaching achievements at other schools or levels reviewed as supplemental rather than the primary basis for selection. Special circumstances, such as serious illness, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

MERITORIUS SERVICEMeritorious Service nominees to the Athletic Hall of Fame are considered on a case-by-case basis and recognize individuals who have demonstrated exemplary, sustained service in support of Kearney High School student-athletes. Selection honors those whose dedication, leadership, and contributions have had a meaningful and lasting impact on the athletic program and the overall student-athlete experience.

TEAM
For team nominations to the Athletic Hall of Fame, eligible teams must have completed a minimum waiting period of five years since their season of achievement. Preference is given to teams that earned State Championship titles or State Runner-Up finishes. Teams that made a significant and lasting contribution to the tradition, success, or legacy of Kearney High School athletics may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
