Mrs. Vornhagen - Bio

Welcome to Family and Consumer Sciences! My name is Mrs. Vornhagen. This year I am making the move to Kearney High School where I will have the privilege of teaching Family Consumer Sciences. 

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Dakota and a Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Overall I have been in education for 30 years. The majority of my experience has been teaching middle school. 

This move will be a huge change for me, but one I am so excited about. When I think of Family Consumer Sciences, I think of preparing students for the real world. A huge focus of FCS courses is preparation for job skills through our college and technical education standards. In these classes, students will learn about topics such as parenting and child development along with human growth and development, relationships, family finance and dating. I am motivated to positively impact the lives of the students in my courses. I expect students to be active participants in their education as they prepare for the road ahead. It’s going to be an adventure! I’m so glad you are here!
