Major David Stott

My name is David Stott and I am the Senior Army Instructor for Kearney High School's JROTC program.  I graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1999 and subsequently attended college at University of Tulsa and University of Nebraska at Kearney.

While attending UNK, our country experienced the devasting events of September 11, 2001.  I joined the United States Marine Corps shortly thereafter.  During my time in the Marines, I was stationed at the White House Communications Agency performing Presidential Security Detail and then spent time at 2nd Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment in Kaneohe Bay, HI.  While assigned to this unit, I was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Following my time in the Marines, I served as a police officer for the City of Kearney.  While working as a police officer, I missed the comradery of the military and decided to join the Nebraska National Guard. Eventually, I took a full-time assignment with the National Guard and was stationed at various locations throughout Nebraska.  I retired from the military in November of 2022.

At home, my wife Annie and I have been married since 2004 and have four children.  We enjoy traveling and cheering on all of our kids' activities!

I am truly excited to be part of the Army JROTC program at Kearney High School. I believe that this program will establish the foundation of service and civic responsibility for all participants and be beneficial toward our students' success academically, personally, and professionally following their time here at Kearney High School.
