Algebra 1A

This course will cover topics that are traditionally taught during the first half of a traditional Algebra 1 class. The material will be spread over an entire semester, and is meant for those students who have had difficulty in 8th grade math. This course will be followed by Algebra 1B, which will cover topics from the second half of Algebra 1. Completion of both courses will be the equivalent of completing Algebra 1 for college entrance purposes.
  • Students will evaluate and simplify numeric and algebraic expressions involving the four basic operations
  • Students will solve problems involving multi-step equations.
  • Students will graph linear equations, use linear models to solve problems, and write linear equations in various forms
  • Students will solve linear systems of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination.
  • Students will solve problems involving multi-step inequalities, including compound inequalities and absolute value inequalities.
  • Students will be proficient using linear functions and equations.
